Prymek & Sage Announce 'Shelter'
by Scott Osgood
:: Announcing :: Shelter from Prymek & Sage (AKP046) out digitally and on limited run LP April 10th. The first single "Hill Blocks View" is out today.
A sprawling pastoral meditation built for high elevations, the core of the album is a series of first take live improvisations with Prymek on electric guitar and Sage on piano. Gentle and hymn-like, deeply melodious, and patient.
Prymek and Sage have a long and wide catalog together, but something about Shelter feels like both a new chapter and a benchmark for both of their practices. This new document of their ongoing friendship contains the influence of years of sonic and artistic explorations, immense life changes, cross country moves, and all the warmth a sunbeam can bring along the way.
Slowly layered with sparse overdubs – yearning slide guitar, accordion, clarinet, recorder, delicate synthesizers – and sateen production treatments, on Shelter cloudy billows of melody and texture explore a shimmering strain of ambient jazz and americana.
